Default How's Your 09 Runnin

I'm trying to get some feedback on the 09's. I'm buying an 09 Roadking Standard. Was wondering if they are running better than the 07's did (I have an 07 Dyna) in terms of running hot, pinging, etc? Are you running stock well without pinging, or is a race tuner absolutely necessary as it was with many 07's. In general, how do you like your 09 model year?

got an 09 ultra classic, ran IMO uncomfortably hot before putting on the pc-v and removing the lowers, now runs absolutely great no heat issues at all. all in all I love this bike, only px so far is an ongoing issue with the radio which will be corrected under warranty

Just completed a 5110 mile trip on my bone stock 09 electra gide standard and it ran great.Rode thru heavy rain and on the way back home, lots of high temps.Have about 9600 miles on the bike.Purchased it in mid Jan of this year. Avg 42.5 mpg on the trip from Texas to Maine and back.

09 Ultra here as well.
Runs super, just did the 1K service (Mobil-1,Redline heavy) and installed some slip-ons a buddy gave me. Screamin Eagle slashdowns, he said he wanted louder on his 09 RK. I do not plan on a Stage-1 upgrade for cooling purposes at this point. The 96ci blubbers right along at 70 in sixth.
It has been hot down here in South East TX. 100f + everyday. The EITMS kicks in frequently at stoplights, it seems to do a decent job. I have not had any heat discomfort from the bike, although I wear thick leather boots and heavy denim jeans anytime I ride.

Our 09 Ultra runs 180 oil temp at hwy. speed two up and will hit 230 oil temp in town. I has never pinged nor have i ever been able to shut off the rear cyl. It has the SE Terminator A/C and SE mufflers and dyno tuned with the SE super pro tuner. It runs hotter than my 05 Heritage but it also has lowers that have to cut down the air to the engine. Over all i am very happy with the bike.

09 Ultra Classic, 6300 miles since Feb. No problems, yea a little hot on trip to the Keys in June, but hey its a harley not an aircooled Japanese bike. does well in rain and cold.

I just got back from a 4 day 1600 mile trip which included a run to the top of Mt.Washington which requires mostly low gear riding and the EITMS never kicked on, partially due to the cooler mountain temps but this thang never missed a beat and I love it more everyday!Best ride I ever had!

I love mine, I did put an oil cooler on it and run Amsoil in it, but that was because I wanted to, not because I had to.

Be Safe JIM
