Want to change my own tire...what about balancing??
Well, it's time for another new rear tire for my SG...This'll be my 4th one. I get around 7000 miles on the stock 402's before I'm no longer comfortable on them. I have been reading all the raves about the E3's, and have decided to go with the 160. Dennis Kirk is right down the road for me... 12 miles away.
I am wondering how many of you have changed your own tires and simply NOT balanced the new ones, and how successful/acceptable the end results were? I am tempted to just remove all the weights and go for it.

I have been riding on hand mounted, not balanced tires for 20 years and never had a problem. My bike's ride smooth and tires last as long as the next guys. I simply match the sidewall dot up with the valve stem and mount. Never had a problem in a truckload of tires. Sure, one day, I might get a vibrator. If I do, I'll get it balanced.

Ive ridding for a long time and i used to do my won tires and never balance them then on my kawaii voyager VII i put a front on and got a low speed shake.. took it off had it balanced 2 times and still had the shake ? I think my new metz on the front of my glide has like 2 1/2 ounces on it ? There is less on the read but id suspect id feel the front long before any rear shake .. No one near you that could balance just because ?

I dont know if the guy knows what the heck hes talking about but the local indy shop says if you line the balancing dot on the tire up with the valve stem you dont need to balance them.
