Shorter covers/longer clips certainly make adjusting pushrods easier. The SE adjustable kit comes with the necessary covers.

The se ez install kit comes with longer clips, and part of the tubes, but it would be easier to get them on with a pushrod clip install tool. I did tis with a screwdriver, but when I realized there was a tool for it, iI was kicking myself as it would avhe been easier.

You will reuse part of the covers from the old pushrods and utilize the other part Clips and lower tubes if I remember correctly from the new kit.

thanks to all,i`m changing lifter because of tapping noise (new) in top end..i think my lifters are bleeding down at lower rpm`s 2000 or so..but when i`m up around 2800 to 3000, cruising it seems to quiet down...i checked everything for loose..will pull pusrod covers and check for loose pushrods....thanks again

Might as well change the cams while you have them out.

HD must have changed the SE kit. The last set I bought came complete. You did not reuse any part of the old tube.

As far as the tool goes, never needed on and never knew one existed until a few months ago. With the right technique a thin flat screwdriver is all you need. I mastered the technique years ago from having to adjust the valves on my Ironhead.

You do not need to take the cams out to swap lifters.

I got rid of my noise by going to the SE adjustables, used the same lifters. I talked to a few people & they said that it is the design & causes the rockers to prodice a side thrust and cause the noise & some are worse than others.

You might want to look at the cam tensioner shoes. When they get real worn there is a sound that could be mistaken for lifter slap.
