It may also be the Rear Cylinder cut-off kicking in before you enter the garage. I noticied this on my 2010 FLHX, when I first got it, I would pull up to the driveway and get off the bike after putting it in neutral and rummage around in the saddlebag looking for the garage door opener, once the door was open I would hop back on the bike, pop it into 1st and pull it in. When I did this the gas smell in the garage was horrible 30 minutes later.

Now I pull up to driveway and cut the engine right away, open the garage, start the bike back up and pull it inside. The smell is noticeably down now.

Default gas smell

I let my SG sit in front of the garage or inside with the door up to cool off, have a gas water heater in the garage...

My Ol lady frequently has gas, and if she smelled like fish, there'd be a problem!
