curious how some of you guys cope with issues like siatic, or flank pain deal with long rides in the saddle...

 

Not that this would help you, but I just ride. I have had bad back pain since December and so far ibuprofen works for me. Cant leave home without it. Good luck though

 

+1 on the Ibuprofen. Lots of it at times

 

Stretch back and legs, before you leave. Use highway pegs (If set up right you can alter yoru foot position so you don't cramp from being in on position) Stop every hundred miles or so, strech a bit, walk around a bit.
Ibuprofen, or aleve are both great. Also there is a product called Biofreeze that is awesome. Since I had my surgery, I have ridden about 10,000 miles with out much issue, infact if I don't ride for a few days, my back stiffens up. So I guess I'm blessed!

 

Had to ditch my low rider after back surgery in 2005 and got an Electra Glide Classic for the better ride hoping it would be better on my back. I have to take a muscle relaxer like flexerol or a vicatin after a long ride. Ibuprofin won't touch it. But I WILL NEVER give up riding if I can still twist the throttle!

 

Adjustable backrest and frequent stops. It's HELL gettin Old.

 

Coincidental post...I feel your pain..literally!! I had to go to the Dr's this morning for lower right back pain. I've slowly gotten it the past 3 weeks. Since it's been raining. Can't get comfortable. Hurts like a bitch. My C&C seat helps but after 1-200 miles I have to get off and walk around. Can't take ibprofen because of other health issues. They prescribed me valium and flexerol and I just dropped it of at the pharmacy..so I don't know if it works yet. Can't use it while riding. Don't know what I'm going to do. I won't quit riding after 37 years of it and I won't get a trike.

 

Back surgery and lots of drugs.

 

New bars that are higher and further back, adjustable backrest, Mustang seat, highway pegs, frequent stops, Ibuprofren.
