I bought an earlier version of this book over 25 years ago. I thought I was going to have to do surgery. This book saved my life. The author really knows what he is talking about, and following his simple advice was all I needed.

Flat hard seat with no seat pressure on lower spine, most important
are the back and leg stretching exercises. I COULD NOT RIDE, if I didn't
do the exercises, and yes I hate doing them.
I have a bad lower disc which will trigger siatic pain, can really suck.
Bucket seat styles kill my lower back.

2 opperatioins from a car accident has left me with chronic back pain. To get by I take 12-24 Mg of Dilaudid,. I also use all the little secrets like a back rest hwy pegs and wimp shield when needed but I have adjusted the passanger pegs to accomidate me when riding. It just gives you 1 more position when riding and its real easy to stretch or stand up a bit when riding(to take the brunt of some bumps or tracks).
