Default oil drain plug

anyone cross thread or have an issue with the motor oil drain plug on an '07 street glide, i have a slight drip on mine after changing my own oil, i have already drained the oil again, replaced the o ring and re tourqued the plug but it is still at a slight drip. looking for feedback on oversized plugs or any solution. Thanks

On my 96 RK, I always used a new oring and a little teflon tape on the threads. If I didn't use the tape, I would get a little leak like you described

Oversize (thicker) O-ring (avail at auto or hardware stores) will solve your problem.

Permatex makes a thread sealer with teflon, works excellent and I use it on all drain plugs. won't tear like tape

i've gotten in the habit of using the teflon tape, and once you figure out how to roll it into the threads you'll like it. i know, the o ring is supposed to seal, but i use the tape for added insurance. and it also will prevent the threads from seizing. just my thoughts.

No thread sealer or teflon tape for me. Still using the o-ring the factory installed, 67,000+ miles later, no leaks.

Rub some oil on the O ring before re installing, same as you do with the rubber seal on the oil filter.

I would be afraid of torn pieces of tape getting in the engine, but that's just me.
