Thanks for your service!
When I was in my 20's, I rode japs. I had a Magna 500 but had to sell it for lack of christmas money for the kids. I went 17 years without and went right into an Electraglide Classic. I had very little problems making such a big jump after all those years. The first ride we took was a 3 day. No problems at all, we just took our time and stayed out of major traffic areas for a while on the trip. Everything came togather quit well. All I can say is GO FOR IT! Just take it easy for a while and get used to it.

1st, Thank you for your service!
2nd, My experience was a lot like yours, and I had no trouble
adapting to my EG. If you are in love with the street glide, buy it!
and buy the DVD "Ride like a pro" it's very educational.
Just rember these 4 rules and you'll be fine
1.) No dry starts
2.) No fast stops
3.) Don't hit anything
4.) Don't do nuthin stupid

I bought a SG after having not ridden for 25 years. Took the MSF course and then went and bought it. The SG is so well balanced you will have no problems if you just take it easy getting used to the weight.

Buy it, you'll like it. However, be advised that the $20k or so you'll pay initially is just the beginning, as after you take delivery the customization process begins. We can give you all kinds of good advise on how to spend your money.

I would also take an advanced rider course as a refresher.
