hey troy, i did exactly the same thing you're getting ready to do, but completely different. i used rinehart slip ons, screamin eagle air cleaner, stage one download and the pcv. the pcv through fuelmoto will come mapped to what you've changed, and it's pretty easy to install. mine runs better than it has a right to. more than enough is usually just about right. you enjoy your time on your bike when you're done in the military. also i think there is a provision in the pcv that you can use a toggle switch to switch between two maps. better check with fuelmoto first on that one though.

from what i have read you need to have the auto tune to run dual maps. you can select between the auto tune or the base map. someone corect me if i am wrong.

I will be bouncing between Whidbey Island Washington and BAF, Afghanistan for the next two years. Currently enjoying 100+ temps and dust storms with no bike right now LOL. Two years and my watch is done. My wife and I may look for some offers when the time comes to hit the road. I can't wait. Enjoy your ride and have one for me.

I may have to hold off on the PCV till I get back to the states then. I think I do want to call them and get a better grip on how dual maps work and requirements to run them, but the phone service out here sucks and I think it may be helpful to have the bike where I can look at it when I call.

I have placed my order for Bub 7 TD pipes and will be ordering the big sucker soon.

To all who have given me any advice I appreciate it.

Both SEST and PCV are excellent tuners, but are quite different in their approaches. IMO the PCV (no AT) is the best tuner for the money if it is purchased from Fuel Moto. Buying from them will assure you of an excellent map already installed that won't require a dyno tune or the need for the PCV Auto-Tune option. Thus, it is plug-and-play. AT is good for incorrigible tweakers (like me) and/or those who plan on making changes to their configuration in the future.

Also, the TD's will hurt low-end performance, so unless you have another reason to buy them (appearance, less heat on the right leg, or stereo sound) I would stay with the stock head pipes, which are very efficient. With the Fuel Moto Dyno-Tuned Jackpot mufflers they also provide an excellent performance level that can likely be equaled only with a 2-into-1 setup. For about $670 you can have the Power Package that includes a PCV with map, AC (SE with cleanable filter element), and the JP mufflers. Fuel Moto also sells most muffler brands and will give you a Power Package price on other brands, but the cost will be greater. With Fuel Moto customer service is top-drawer and you can obtain maps for future configurations via an on-line procedure.

With the basic PCV you can switch between two maps on the fly. With PCV-AT you can switch between the base map (open-loop) and AT (closed-loop). Essentially the switch performs the same function with either.

First let me say I really appreciate your insight. The primary reason I am looking at the Bub-7 TD is to get some of the heat off the right leg and keep my youngest from putting his shoe on it LOL. I also really like the true dual look, with that a 2 into 1 would be out of the question for just that reason. I understand I will lose some on the bottom end with the true dual. I do believe I can live with that as the tune and other upgrades should make up for it.

Would Fuel Moto's SE cleaner be a better match to the Bub-7 then the Big Sucker?

In your next post you mentioned that I can switch between two maps with the PCV without the use of the Auto Tune modules. What I want to do is be able to select a map for mileage while on the highway, and be able to select a power map with an increase in the rev-limiter for normal everyday riding. This would keep the bike cool around town and pep it up for some more fun.

Will Fuel Moto send the PCV with both maps loaded or do I need to down load them from somewhere?

Thanks for your input.

Seeing all the problems people here have with the PC and knowing most people change mufflers or pipes a few times before finding the ones they are really happy with, I don't know why the PC is so popular. Just a thought.
