Default Thinking of trading my 07 Ultra for 05 SE

What are any of your thoughts?? My buddies are telling me don't go backwards. I'm looking at an 05, Ultra SE. I'm looking for a little more power. All the SE amenities but I can't afford a newer SE. Am I really going backwards. How much more power will the 103 have over the 96?? I haven't taken this bike for a ride yet. I'm still waiting for the dealer to get back to me on how many mile are on the bike.

I believe that '05 was the last year of the good machines! You're not backing up, you're moving foward and your friends are jealous.

You do understand that the '05 is NOT an Ultra, right? From the factory, it won't have the intercom/CB or rear speakers. Also, I don't recall if it came with a chopped tour pak or not, and it should have fairing lowers.

That being said, personally it'd be a no brainer for me (assuming the '05's condition is excellent) and go with the '05 SEEG because of the paint, 103 (with a far better crank than what's in your '07), gauges, etc. Depending on your riding style, the six-speed may be important (it isn't to me) and can always be added later.

As for your buddies, ride what you like.

Keep your 07 and you can paint it and add a 103

If you want it, go for it. Your "friends" are not making the deal, you are.

This is true, I have to ride it not my friends. I do a lot of riding. My 07 has 23K on the clock in 2 years. The 05, has 27K. I just talked to the dealer. I really do use the CB, that might be an issue. Our chapter rides we communicate a lot. So this is a Classic, not an Ultra??? It does have the lower fairings.

The model designation is FLHTCSE, meaning an SE Electra Glide Classic.

Couple of points: (1) it will have the Radio Sound non-CB headunit stock which means it's not easy to add CB since the RS headunits had the CB integral in the headunit and not an add-on module like your HK radio in the '06 and newer EG's; and, (2) it will have the longer tank console that is found on the Street Glide which will have to be modified or replaced with the Ultra style short tank console if you add CB for the headset plug.

Sent you a PM with some additional info.

Also, seat height shows to be 24.7... Is this bike lower than the Ultra. As far as the CB. If I really love this bike. I'll live without it.

If you want more power, just do some motorwork on your '07. A built 103" (with non-Screamin' Eagle parts) will run circles around a Screamin' Eagle 103".

That's an option that I have been toying with as well.
