Default Help for a noisy primary/tranny

Hey Ya'all. I have a 98 ultra with 55000 miles on her. I have been hearing what amounts to a washing machine noise coming from somewhere in the primary/transmission area of the bike. A thunk thunk sound.... It happens when the bike is started and It doesn't oscillate with anything spinning i/e motor, tire etc... It occurs at about 1 second intervals no matter what gear or speed. I have replaced the primary chain as it had some semi seized links, but did not see anything out of the ordinary inside the primary case. Has anyone ever had a noise, problem like this? If so I would love to hear what you found out about it. Thanks in advance....

Check your drive belt. May not be tranny related.

That was going to be my next step. I was a rice mechanic in a former life and have a mechanic stethoscope to listen with. The only thing that makes me wonder is the drive belt sprocket isnt even turning when its idling in the driveway and still making the noise. I will tear into it tomorrow and see what I find. Thank you for the suggestion.

Happy Riding
