Default D407 Tires

Has anyone replaced their D407 tires yet? If so, how many miles did you get out of them? I have closed to 10,000 on my rear and need to replace, and I'm trying to decide on another D407, or elite 3. Thanks for any info.

You're going to have to replace with a D407 or D408. Dunlop does not make an Elite-3 to fit the 09's yet.

Is the 408 a better tire? I was really hoping to get 12 - 15000 out of this 407, but it doesn't look like it will happen. There sure was a lot of hipe on these when the 09's first came out. Thanks for the update on the elite 3.

I think the 408 is virtually the same tire. The Dunlop folks said (at Sturgis last year) that the 'projection' for tire wear was 15,000 miles for rear and 20,000 for the front...but then, that is just their blah blah blah flapping in the wind.

I'm hopeful to see 12-15,000 but I am NOT going to count on anything beyond the normal 8,500 or so.

Just replaced a D402 on the rear of my 08 Ultra with 19,876 miles and still some tread to go. But, I'm headed on a long trip and knew I'd need to replace it so thought I'd do it with someone I trusted at home. Front has 21,000 now and maybe will get another 3,000-4,000.

They've got an E3 radial in the rear size but not the front. There's a D205 radial for the front though.

My 09 Ultra has the D407 with 2200 miles. Is anyone experiencing the mirrors fuzzy at 65mph and above. Mine started doing this 500 or so miles ago and balancing did not help. Very mild cupping if any. Just asking.

Mine started feeling like an enduro tire at 2500 miles. At 3100, I and looking at changing rims to get rid of the dang D407.

To the OP, the D407 and D408 are the only 2 options for the front rim on the 09's right now. The 408 has the tread pattern reversed compared to the 407.

I believe the 407 has been replaced with the 408. The only difference is they reversed the tread pattern because of a cupping problem. You can do a search here on the forum. If your tire is cupped, you may get a little more milage out of a 408 just because it shouldnt have the cupping problem.
