Default Hidden antenna that works for $21.95

I thought I give a shout out to a product that worked better than I anticipated.

We talked in an earlier thread https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...en-antena.html about Hidden Antennas
and using a Y-Connector so we could have our regular antenna most of the time
and the few time we put on our Tour Paks on and we have to take off the antenna,
we would need an inside the fairing hidden antenna already hooked up ready to go.

Well we talked and found a company to supply the Y-Connector, http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/S...d/0/rid/123284 $4.99 plus $12.85 shipping

I have been looking at this hidden antenna http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hidde...Q5fAccessories on eBay since last summer.
I got pretty burned out on hidden antennas,
because my Dakota Digital would only pick up one station in town
and sometimes it wouldn’t even do that.
But I pulled the trigger and ordered it. $21.95 with free shipping

I installed it this afternoon.
I have it hooked up through the Y-Connector ( I took off the stock whip for the test ride)
and took it out for a test ride and I must say,
I think it works as good as my stock whip antenna on the back.
I may not put the stock back on.
More test rides to come this weekend, but so far I have all positive things to say about it.

On my 08 I had the antenna relocator kit and a Rubber antenna
and didn’t want to do that on my new bike.
This antenna definitely works better than my rubber one I bought at the dealership.

Anyway for $21.95 I’d say it’s worth a shot if any of you want a hidden antenna.
The seller on eBay is streetglidecota out of Covington, Ohio.

It's held in with 3M tape and doesn't need any electrical power.
This is his picture I didn't take one when I installed it.

I've never heard of that, I do have a Pearl paint though.

Here's something else that was weird that happen during the install. While I was installing this hidden antenna and the Y-Connector, I noticed a little buzzing interference in the radio. I unplugged the rear antenna and it stopped. Oh crap I thought I was getting some feedback or something. Well I had every light and radio on in my garage, so I started to turn things off and when I turned off the floresant lights above my bike the buzzing stopped. It was only buzzing with the rear stock antenna. Even when it was the only antenna hooked up.

I had just put them up this week to add some more light for cleaning and such. Strange how it buzzed n the stocker but not this new hidden antenna. It wasn't a bad buzz, but I was trying to listen for any problems.

Biketronics has a hidden antenna that WORKS. It consists of an insulated wire about 18" long with the antenna plug crimped on one end. It works better than ANY of the high dollar hidden antennas and nearly as well as a stock whip. Get one from them or make one for yourself, it's simple enough - and metallic paint (WTF?) won't affect it.

Easiest and cheapest fix I did to my bike and a couple others: go to radio shack and buy a straight antenna jack (the piece that plugs into the back of the radio) sauder a 20 inch piece of 18 or 20 gauge speaker wire to the plug. Split the wire, run it around inside fairing and wiretie. Works as good as stock whip antenna. You can also purchase a piece of antenna wire like some home stereo units use and do the same thing, either way you probably have about $2 in the whole ordeal.

in the J&M R&D shop in Tucson, we tested the new J&M hidden in-fairing antenna, comparing it to the Biketronics unit, the Dakota Digital unit and two others, and the J&M antenna outperformed them all, on all three bands of AM, FM and WB ,,,,

certainly as one of the owners of J&M, I would like to promote our new FLEXPOWER antenna, but I would not post on this forum, the results of our tests, if they were not true ,,,,,

J&M has actually gotten into the hidden antenna manufacturing business BECAUSE we could not find one already on the market, just to buy and sell, that produced satisfactory performance, so we made our own ,,,,,

then when we figured out that we could make a hidden, in-the-fairing CB antenna, that worked very well also, we knew we had a winner ,,,,,

that does not mean that the other antennas mentioned here on this thread don't work ,,,, many of you are having good luck with them ,,, I am only saying that I think you will find the new J&M FLEXPOWER antenna will work even better ,,,,,
