New to the HD and I have a question about the Jiffy Stand -
When the bike is on its jiffy stand it does't seem 'stable' to me. When I even nudge the bike forward just a slight bump I get the impression the Jiffy Stand is going to fold up and put the bike down. Is it suppose to lock or be more stable?
Thanks
Russ
Bikes made before October 08 for 09 model year ( touring ) all you have to do is say you are not happy with the way it leans and they will replace. This is not a recall, just a service bulletin. Had mine done and bike sits up better.
If you have a bike lift or are able to see a Harley on one you will see by working the stand with your hand how it does lock in place. Once it locks in place it is not going to fold up. You have to be sure that the stand is in the forward most position to engage the locking mechanism.
Yeah, once the stand is "locked" (and make sure it's locked), it ain't going nowhere. Another trick I use is to put the bike in 1st gear, release the clutch, and either push it forward till it stops or backwards depending if there is a incline or not. Then rest the bike on the stand. Usually, the bike will not move at all after this.
Great replys - I went an put your suggestions to the test and sat on it with the Jiffy Stand down (should have done that first before asking here) and sure enough it is locked.... Thanks again for your reply.
