Bi focal glasses any suggestions on what to get?
I have to start wearing bifocal glasses and would like to know where to get them and what any of you would suggest. Also would you recomend 2 pair regular and sunglass or get the transision ones that change on there own. Thanks for any advise.

I have good distance vision so don't have to wear bifocals but need reading glasses to read my gauges, radio, etc. So, I got bifocals with the top part regular sunglasses and the bottom reading glasses so I can see my inner faring. I had mine done a Walmart but you could go to your optomitrist, Sears, Pearl, etc. All have the frames and all you need is to provide the prescription. It makes a difference for me. My advice is to get the lenses that are fully tinted, not just coated; and, be sure the reading part on the bottom is very thin so it doesn't obstruct your sight of the road; and don't get the progressive lenses.

aerostich.com On this site you can buy some stick on bi focal. Just wet down the lens of any pair of regular sun glasses and stick on the clear bi focal. You can use them on you favorite pair of glasses or goggles. I had to start using them to see my GPS. You can also cut them down smaller to fit you lens so they take up little room on the lens.

I don't like progressive lenses, either. As I get older I'm turning into Fred Sanford, with a pair of glasses for this and a pair for that. So many places have their lens work done in labs off-site that it's hard to tell how good the lenses will be based on where you order them. To some extent, it's just a crap shoot. But when you find a good place, stick with them.

My glasses are transition and progressive and I have no problem with them. However, when I ride I wear contacts, the right for distance and the left for close up (reading). If you have not heard of this it seems ridiculous and that is what I thought 20 years ago but I have been wearing them for 20 years and it works very well. When riding I wear WileyX glasses with the padding around the eyes or goggles. Otherwise, there is a chance a contact may blow out. Happened several times when I wore just regular sunglasses.

no help here on where, as others have stated it depends on the lab. I have bifocal sunglasses with the padding for riding. It's great to be able to see all those numbers on the guages and the GPS. This is my second pair of prescription riding sunglasses. The first wasn't done right but I was so pleased to have prescription riding goggles that it took me quite a while to figure out they sucked. note that I always get glass lens for all my eyewear as they are inherently more resistant to scratching.
