Get a Lincoln. They last for years and years.

Get a pistol grip, not a lever type. The pistol grip can be operated one handed while the other hand holds pressure on the fitting.

Buy a 90* adapter for the gun as such:

I think you've answered your own question. "Harbor Freight" Who knows if their tip fits the grease nipple correctly? Why do guys spend 20K in a bike and then buy the cheapest, most useless tools available?

Thanks guys a lot guys for the great tips here, no paun intended. As "Upswept" mention maybe "Harbor Freight" is part of the problem. I bought a torque wrench from them and it was broken.

I would change out the grease fitting on the steering head to a 90* fitting and be done with it
