Does tranny fluid have to be motorcycle specific?

Redline Heavy Duty Shockproof in my Gear Boxes for at least 250,000 miles on 6 different Harleys. Never had a problem yet. Remember the old saying: "Go with what got ya there"... Try it, you'll like it.
