Yeah, I'm just not too keen on that idea. For one, it puts it a bit too far away. It is clean though. Do you know what stays on the bike when you remove the Zumo?
I've seen this from Techmount and it looks cool, but I'm not soure about running the power and whether it will accept the cradle.

Depends on how it's wired and how much you take off, etc. For me, I generally leave the cradle on the bike and just remove the zumo. However, you can remove the cradle and just leave the ball/ram mount also. As stated above, the zumo comes with the option of mounting it to the perch

I have Chubby bars and use the Powerlet. http://www.powerletproducts.com/prod...ts-gadgets/350
Nice thing about the Powerlet is it's a clean looking install (IMO)...no wires/cables snaking up the handlebars. I just pull the plug and unscrew the ram arm from the powerlet and off I go - taking the whole cradle/Zumo with me. No need to leave the cradle on the bike when you're not using it. If you look at my pic...the Powerlet cord is tucked into the headlight nacelle and runs back under the tank to the battery.
Of course, the darn thing is pricey.
BTW, I bought that Techmount and didn't ever use it with the Zumo. Like you, I also think it looks great, but decided I liked the Powerlet better because I could run the power to it for a cleaner look. I'll use the Techmount for a camera or something that doesn't require a cable. Oh, and with the Powerlet and Ram Mounts...you can get different length arms...longer arms would allow you to get the Zumo closer to you as you mentioned.
