the easy way is to let the dealer do it, but its not too bad doing it yourself.

fairing can stay in place, but the plastic bezel that holds the speedo/tach needs to come off so you can get to the filler caps on top of the shocks, which requires the ignition switch to come off too. get a service manual and follow the instructions there, its not a bad job.

I need to do mine (again) soon... I put SE fork oil and progressive springs in mine and for me the ride is just a little too harsh, so gonna drop the oil back to a thinner weight and see if that helps.

Like steveh326 said, its not a bad job but if you havent done it before be ready for a all day affair. I drained mine the night before from the bottom drain screws first before starting the removal instead of following the manual telling you to remove the fork cap bolt and draining them from the top. Also you will need to get a measuring cup to put equal amounts back into the forks along with a small funnel and patiences.

The last once and a half will take some time to drain down the tubes.

Not sure about how to access the top plugs on an RG, but for the rest of the job you might check this thread for general info. Once you remove the top plugs the procedure should be the same. The bottom line is that you don't need to disassemble the forks to change the fork oil.
