Default Never hear anyone speak about porting and polishing heads. Whats the deal?

Ive been trying to do some research on porting and polishing heads and maybe using larger valves. I read an article about it in this months AIM and it sounds good but I wanna know more. Anyone have any input or experience on this. Ive also been looking online for some heads so I could practice and or get it done with little down time on my bike. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

You've already read Donny's article in AIM, which will be continued. Why are you thinking you will find a better expert here than the master himself?

Then again, someone might give you this link....

My heads were done by Branch.
Ported/Polished/Flowed

What year model heads are you looking for?
I have a set from my '06 SG that I'd consider selling.

lemme get this thought straight. you want to find a set of heads so you can practice? i got two words to say about that. "why?" spend the dough for branch flowmetrics, headquarters, or the self proclaimed guru who writes for american iron. surely don't wanna take your heads to hillbilly bobs down the street for his magic. i've seen a lot of that work in years past, and it's pretty scarey.

Hay now ... watch it! I kinda resent you saying I can't do good head work. I've been practicein on lawn mower heads for ... let me see almost three weeks now.
I know I can grind out your motorcicle heads .... Cheap too !

I had my heads p&p when I had the 103 installed. I love it. My uncle has a 103 that he put in a soft tail with out doing any head work and I can smoke him on my road glide. I love the power and better flow that they provide.

With all due respect to the original poster - this is good advice. Take 'er apart, put 'er together but some things are left to people with the experience.
