I think you will find the front end will be to stiff with 100% SE Fork Oil in there. I did the same thing you did and removed that oil real fast. I now have a 50/50 mix of stock & SE oil in there and it's still a little stiff but livable.

Default impact driver

I ran into the same problem with the allen bolt at the bottom of the lower. Having read these post prior I knew i probably needed and an air impact driver. To save some money since I didn't have a compressor or air tools(yet) I went with an impact driver and saved myself a few hundred. With a few hits of a mallot on top of the driver to break up the lock tight, both the bolts came right out. ( http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...32-227488777-2 )

Good write up. I agree with HDV-glide. I had 100 per cent screaming eagle fork oil in mine. To stiff for me. I took it out and mixed mine 50/50 with stock oil. Still works good and rides a lot better. Just my opinion.

I'm reading conflicting information from several different posts. Is the correct size PVC pipe 1.5" or 2.0". I reading posts of people using both and some that require the end to be sanded and others cutting the PVC down the middle. Also where is everyone getting the long shaft 6mm hex socket from. I went to Lowes and Sears and was unsuccessful. I ordered one from ebay but the seller is out of stock and there's a 4-5 day delay now with the shipping.

2 notes I would add for those that haver never done this. It is easier to get the bottom bolt out before you remove the cap, the spring tension keeps the cup in the dampener from turning.
Depending on the age of the bike, make sure there are no burrs or grit on the upper end of the tube (where its exposed between the triple clamps), otherwise you may damage the new seal when sliding it on.
It can also be confusing which end is up on the seal, so a simple test to check is put some oil on the tube and slide the seal up and down, you want the seal to wipe the tube clean on the downstroke. Otherwise you will pump fluid out if in backwards. Nice write up. Im attempting a set again next week.

List of materials:
2 Fork Seals
2 6mm copper allen screw w/ copper washers
2 Quad ring seals
2' length of 1.5" Sched 40 PVC pipe
Harley Chrome Front end kit for Touring models w/ ABS
2 16oz bottles of Screamin' Eagle heavy fork oil

Question... Does the HD Chrome Front End Kit not come with with the seals, screws, etc?

It's going to ride like a truck with that SE Heavy Oil in there...Mix it 50/50 with the regular fluid but we each have to learn the hard way sometimes...Good luck....
