I like to think I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but I've come across something you guys can have some fun with at my expense. I was changing the pads on the front of my 07 FLHX, pulled the caliper and then the pins. I didn't pay attention to how the pads came out because I figured they can only go in one way. I went to the service manual to make sure and it seems as though it's backwards??? what they are calling the inboard pad is where the outboard pad is and outboard where the inboard...looking at the parts breakdown my pads are going in the exact opposite. If any of you guys can shed some light on this I would apprciate it.

I did put the old pads in the way they would fit and rode about 100 miles with no apparent problems.

 

I just switched to the gold pads and HD floating rotors up front. I love the new set up. Very grippy and no squealing. Well, except for when the rear rotor is wet.

I had this problem on rear wheel on my 02 because the manual was wrong. IT took me three hours to figure that out.

On the 7195's...Inside...outside...left or right...the rounded side of the pad goes toward the rear of the bike.

The service manual is equally confusing, but the rounded side of the pads always goes toward the rear of the bike.

Rounded side of pad toward the rear of the bike...always.

I installed Lyndall Gold + pads on my bike to reduce the brake dust - well that didn't work. I get as much or more black dust on the chrome wheels as I did with the stock pads. I had Lyndall Z+ pads on my '07 Heritage and had no brake dust.

I tried to get the Z+ for the '08 but no one had them so I had to buy the Gold +. I'm extremely unhappy with this waste of money.
