I think mine was 250-260 ish 2 years ago. So 315 don't sound to bad today if your inclined to let the dealer do it. I guess I'm glad I did, but its never been back.
My bike is die, talked to dealer yesterday and they want $350. I figured that was insane money but I just feel better having them do my first service (Ill bring the Vaseline ).
I asked them about me bringing my own oil and they said that anything other than the HD stuff or Redline would void the warranty???? WTF? Are they full of crap? Not that I have an issue getting redline, but still...
Just picked up an 09 EGC from Gowanda HD, Gowanda NY. It is the 3rd bike that I've bought from them. They do the 1000 mile Service for free with the only charge being an upcharge for synthetic. They are an excellent dealer that builds return customers by doing such things.

yes, they are full of crap. as long as the oil meets the specifications indicated by the manufacturer, you can use it.
next time, ask them about the magnusson-moss warranty act, see how they react.
Got mine for free...pre-negotiated when i bought the bike......$315... Did they rub your titz while the bent you over....&60.00 manual $30.00 oil n filter...$6.00 six pack of Rolling Rock.
if you do the services yourself, you'll probably enjoy your bike more. i know, i do my own services, and i really enjoy getting to know my bike more. not like we're establishing a real and meaningful relationship, mind you, but it isn't hard to read out of the service manual what has to be done and at what mileage. it gives me a sense of satisfaction, doing what work on it that i can. good luck, and have fun doing your own work.

You think that's bad?! A couple months ago when I was looking at the new bikes, I walked into the service department at Rossmeyer's and they wanted $469!! And they look at you like YOUR nuts fir questioning it. Needless to say not only did I not buy our bikes there, non service gets done there. Bless the day when I get that crap out of the garage my bikes are now in so I can around them to work on them. And, praying here, a Handy lift!
