Harley Davidson Refuses to Replace Defective Chrome Spoke Rims
ATTENTION: Harley Davidson refuses to correct defective rims they sell to unsuspecting customers. These chromed spoke rims rust after only 17 months of being kept in a heated garage. Buyers beware of defective Harley Davidson chrome plated rims. These on a 2007 Road King Custom.

Rust in less than a year is not "normal wear and tear." If there's any kind of warranty on the wheels or "bumper to bumper" on the bike, a quick attorney note or small claims court filing will probably resolve it. This is assuming, of course, that you've already escalated the issue to the dealership owner/GM and/or the MOCO.

Did you ride the thing? Did you see in the owner's manual where it states you wax the wheels weekly? Do you know what happens when you spin a metal object and subject it to moisture? Electrolysis. What is the humidity and salt content where you live? Chrome will pit if not kept protected with a wax film and/or subjected to moisture and salt in the air. Especially when the wheel is turning. Just a thought...

If you want to throw HD under the bus, provide some information regarding your maintenance of the wheels and your location.
Also, how far up the HD food chain with your warranty issue did you go? And did you buy the wheels from a Harley store or a third party?
Regret hearing about your problem.

I'm going to jump in here and say "HARLEY WON'T REPLACE MY WHEELS".. they are only 10 years old and have 30,000 miles on them and the guy that had the bike before me must have never heard of wax or polish or cleaning the bike for that matter... I cleaned the hell out of them with the SOS pad trick, now they're rusting... Guess I'll be swapping wheels when I wear these tires out...
