His last service he put in Screamin' Eagle Synthetic oil.
I see some posts here that say it's really a blend & not a true synthetic.
So it might not help heat as well as a "true synthetic"?

Thanks for all the info so far...

I did several things to make heat a non-issue.

1. True duals
2. Arlen Ness air cleaner
3. SERT and dyno tune - AFR 13.6
(1-3 = stage 1 upgrade)
4. HD premium oil cooler
5. Synthetic oil

Bike runs at 180 to 190 on the road. The heat to my legs is not a problem when stopped. Another big plus is the heat to my wife from the stock right side pipe.

The stage 1 upgrade did the most to help comfort. The oil cooler and synthetic oil was done for engine longevity. Keep in mind that the TC96 is air AND oil cooled.

I refer to all this as "The Harley Tax." In my opinion, it has to be done just to get the bike to run right.

easy fix, take the chrome covers off the exhaust, wrap them in the kevlar wrap then put the heat shields back on. You wont ever see the wrap underneath and it will lower the temps a few hundred degrees. Good luck

New mufflers, K&N air filter and PCIII (usb). After doing these mods I noticed a significant reduction in heat coming from the rear cylinder. When riding in traffic much better when compared to stock setup.

I have an 07 king and I did big sucker intake, v&h duals power commader w/dyno tune, and run synthetic and it makes a big difference in heat! I live in Fl. so the overall heat down here can get ridiculous in the summer.

True Dual header pipes. I used Vance & Hines on my 08 and it helped tremendously.

I posted this on another thread but I'll ask it here too.

If he installs the PCIII, does he have to do the breather and the pipe upgrade too?
How much help will just the PCIII be?

*Sigh*
And FuelMoto is closed until Monday...

Not sure you agree with what? That my 07 does not run hot? How the fu@k would you know to disagree? Have you been on my bike?

Agree that it feels cooler but don't think it lowers the temp?

Unlike you, I'm good with feeling cooler without reading a temperature gauge.
