Question Looking for new Road Glide Seat

Hey guys, I am in the market for a new Road Glide seat. The factory one sits way too high for me (I'm on my tip toes at stops) and the seat is too wide for my skinny azz. The inner parts of my theighs are killing me after a few hours riding. I need a seat that will sit my down low and is comfortable. I also would like to have a seat that has a nice passenger seat cusion for the wife,. I plan to have a factory standard back rest so the seat should somewhat fit that style if possible.

So far I have found these:

Corbin Gambler http://www.corbin.com/harley/baggers/hdflh9gam.shtml

Lepera Villian- Check out touring bike section... http://www.lepera.com/

Saddleman Explorer http://www.saddlemen.com/store/index...oducts_id=7240

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Tom here. Try a Mean City Cycles seat mod. They have great reviews here on the forum. Find them in the Vendor Classifieds. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/mean-city-cycles-94/

I have the same issues and replaced the original seat with a Harley Reach Seat. It puts you a little lower and forward. I was also told the the Sundower seat could be another option. These both will take a driver backrest.

Not sure where you live - can't be shorter than me - I am 5'6" and ride two up a lot.... My suggestion is to have Corbin build you a Custom seat - However, this requires you to be at the factory for a 'ride in appoitment' that way you and the builder meet and talk/work on the seat that day... I have done this on my past 3 HD's over the past 11 years.... Works great for me... if you do not live close to Hollister, Ca.. something close can be done through the mail - but be very careful... Eventhough I love my Corbin and have recieved Great Customer service - I have heard and read Many Horror stories on their mail/order service.... always track calls and get names/times and fallow through

Thanks guys for the replies. Does anyone own any of these seats and can vouch? I really like the Corbin Gambler myself. I might have to have mine modified but I'm not a huge fan of the stock seat anyway so I'm hung on what to do.

I also have the Harley Reach Seat and I'm 5'6". I can almost flat foot. It lowers you about an inch or so and moves you forward about the same. The nose is narrower as well, so that helps with clearance. It's pretty comfortable, but I think the foam might be a little too soft for very long rides. I'm probably going to have Allen at Mean City Cycles replace the foam. Allen said that the Reach Seat for 09 touring bikes is based off the seat pan for 08 and older bikes, which has a narrower frame. The passenger pillion is also pretty thick and wide, so looks like it would be good for a passenger as well. Since the seat moves you closer to the bars, no need to change the bars if you are having trouble reaching them as well. The seat cost me $299, so it's pretty competitive with the other seats you are looking at. Go down to a Harley dealer, and if they have one in stock, they'll mount it for you and let you try it out. That's what I did. I live near Sacramento, so Hollister (Corbin Factory) is within 2 hours or so. I was thinking about doing the ride in program, but their seats are at least $500 and that's a little steep for me right now since the Reach seat is working for me.

If you go with a Corbin, you'll want the "close" style.... regular Corbin seat will move you back, and your legs will have to clear the clutch area.... so your leg will go farther from the bike.
I have the REACH on my '05 been on the bike since last September... maybe 15,000 miles, very comfortable. Ask at your local dealership, maybe they'd let you fit it on your bike, before buying.
+1 on Mean city seats

You might want to check into the Mustang seats, Regal Touring or Solo w/passenger pillion. For the 08 and older bikes they claim they are narrower and seat you lower.

However, I will also vouch for Mean City since they did an excellent job on my wife's sundowner seat.
