Default Where is all the turbulence coming from?

Hey guys, as some of you all know I picked up my 09 SG about two weeks ago. I replaced the stock windshield with the mid height one ( I think it’s the 8” one) the day I got it. After riding it for two weeks I’m thinking about adding a taller windshield. I moved up from a Night Train to this SG so it’s a night and day difference but I’m getting a lot of turbulence at from my nose up. I can feel my glasses and helmet moving around a lot. I’m 6’1” and the windshield I have now is at neck level. My wife and I are about to do 1000 + miles in a week so I want to be comfortable. Should I get a taller windshield, a recurved windshield, or look at some of those fairing vents? If you all can think of anything that could help me cut down on this turbulence just let me know.

Thanks

I've found that most turbulence actually comes up under the fairing. Chrome fork lowers will eliminate most of it.

Dito.............Do you have highway pegs? If so, is it like 5 times worse when your feet are on those? It's like your legs are ramps for the 70mph wind right into your chest and up. I'm working on a cure. I'm tired of it rattling my teeth!

I found a lot of wind and rain is actually coming up from under the lower triple tree.
I added this item to my Ultra, you can also get it in black, I think it's a stock on the Road Kings.

"Where is all the turbulence coming from?"

When riding 2up with my wife, I feel the most turbulence in my lower rib cage after hard accelerations. It usually comes in hard thumps.

I have a 00EGC, went to the shorter wind screen for about 10 miles and put the stock one back on.

I don't think it comes stock on the Kings, I have an 05 and I just bought that piece a couple of weeks ago...Tremendous help as far as wind buffeting coming up from under the neck.

12" is stock.

I'm 6'2" here, I have gone to a Clark's Custom Windshields, 14" Clear Flat Top Clear for long road trips with the wife. It does reduce a lot of wind turbulence for her. I will probably use it by myself on long hauls as well. The fit and finish is very good.

I put an 8" with a recurve on mine and it about beats my brains out. Went back to the factory and issue was solved. Took me about $115 to learn that lesson.
