Thanks for the tips but what are lower fairings?

11" Clark light tinted flat top. I'm one of those who likes looking through not over the wind shield, but when the need arises, rain, snow etc. the 11" shield is short enough for me too look over the top comfortably. The stock 12" was a little too high. Lowers definately cut down on turbulance. I use soft lowers. The Clark flat top is just the ticket for me.

stock ws on ultra or classic i think is 12" i'm 6'4" tall and i look over the 9" by about an inch and a half. just right . there is what is called a fork baffle, stock on the older harleys, till 84 or so, can still get them in chrome for about 25 bux. they help a lot. it prevents so much air from sneakin up from between the lower forks and the gas tank. lots of air comes in through there. in the 09 parts and accessories catalog, it's page 434 part number 58520-79tc costs twenty five bux. stops a whole lot of air, the kind that would rip your ballcap off. get one. they work great.

If the windshield only comes up to your neck and the wind is hitting you from the nose up.........that's your problem.

Windvest makes the curved windshield. The wife is 5'7" and rides with a Corbin seat (sits lower than stock) and she has the 6" dark tint on her 09 Street Glide. I am 6'4" and I ride an 04 Electra Glide with Corbin seat and I use the 8" smoked windshield.

The guys at Corbin will tell you that the top of the shield should be mouth to nose high when you're seated in riding position. Works for us!

I bought this baffle this afternoon and installed it tonight. Trivial to install, looks good too. For me it makes a huge difference in helmet buffeting. I highly recommend it. There are two versions, the chrome one as listed above, and a black one with the same partnumber, no tc. That one is about $13.

I bought the chrome one, it came with chrome screws.

Well, installed the 9 inch Clark flat top and so far it is coming up trumps. I do notice a huge difference in the turbulence , being able to hear the stereo and also the lack of bugs hitting me in the face. Great for road trips although I will take it off for riding around town.
