Default Advice on Bike Position in Trailer

I have just purchased a single axle 10' covered trailer. Like all single axle trailers the wheels are positioned slightly off centre. My bike, an Electra Glide Classic, is about 8' 5" overall length so there is excess length in the trailer. What part of the bike would you put over the axle to maintain a reasonable load on the hitch but keep most of the load over the axle? Or looking at it another way how far back from the front would you place the bikes front wheel
Thanks for help

I've got a 6'x10 trailer and put my Street Glide forward. Not an issue. What you are towing with is a bigger concern.

I would start out forward and check the tongue weight of trailer. You can go back if it is to much. 10' trailer you should be OK up front.

You also might want to do a forum search. I've seen some good threads on this subject in the past.

Keep in mind, that your tongue weight should be between 10 & 15% of your total trailer weight. Here is a good article on tongue weight.

Have a RG in a 6x10 trailer. Light tongue, I can pick up by myself. Loaded the bike toward the front. left me room in back for my camping gear. Easy to tow. Just make sure your trailer tongue is level with towing vechile. That light of a trailer will give you problems at highway speed.

Get a bathroom scale. Bring it to the trailer tongue. Put a block of wood under the trailer tongue and on the scale and slowly move the bike into the trailer on its kick stand. Keep moving it up until the recommended trailer tongue weight is reached and then put a mark on the wall of the trailer to a spot you will remember i like to use my gas cap Even with the gas cap means the trailer tongue weight is pretty dam close. Chock it down, tie it down done.
