Default Newbie question on a 07 Road King!

Hi all! I'm a long time visitor here but just now about to pick up my first Harley. I've riden every model there is and have decided to get my first Harley...an 07 Road King Classic. Ive been riding a 1970 Honda CB750 for a few years that me and my dad restored. Of course I am keeping this bike in the stable.

Im looking for help on two things: 1. I've test rode the bike I want from a local guy here in Atlanta. It has about 3200 miles on it, the first service has been done by a dealer and it has the XM installed with the two wheel tunes speakers and the reach seat. Is there anything I need to pay attention to or check before buying this bike? It was just in the shop a few months back and no mention of any issues, never wrecked or dropped.

2. The bike is WAY too quiet. I know the exhaust debate is never ending on here and everyones opinions vary. I want to do the K&N filter with Rhinehart true duals. I was also considering Fuel Moto's power package. My questions is for the fuel/power commander. Is there one unit thats better then another?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Give fuel moto a call, very friendly people, they know what they are doing. They made my '07 King run great.

+1 on calling Fuel Moto. They will sell you a Power Commander with the correct map for your application preinstalled. I just ordered a retrofit PC V from them with a preinstalled map for my new Bub #7 duals.

Got an 07 RKC. Doing the air, fuel manage, and mufflers a good idea, not because it's hip and sounds good; because it helps with heat. Make sure you keep synthetic oil in her and in Hotlanta I'd look into an oil cooler. Good luck and happy riding.

I've got about 20,000 on my '07 FLHR and LOVE it. Ditto the others on your preferred mufflers, an unrestrictive air cleaner, and an aftermarket fuel management box. Those "Stage 1" goodies yield improved performance AND reduced heat (more effective air/fuel ratio than showroom stock EPA setup).

As stated, FuelMoto is absolutely the goto guy for the fuel management gear alright but you'll need to tell him which mufflers you bought. Your sound preferences are your's only though so listen to other folks HDs when you can and pick the set that's right for you.

BTW, some other '07 folks felt that their 5th gear was noisy but mine wasn't. However, the "fix" was add IDS and many that did said the scoot runs much smoother too so I added it anyway. Mine does run somewhat smoother but IDS wasn't really necessary for me so, unless you WANT to add it...

If you dont know what IDS is then you should not
waste your money on it.
I don't have one and don't need one
on my 07 Road King Classic

I did SEAC/Fuelpak/2.0 Rush slip ons. For sound and $, I'm happy. I know there is better but wtf, IMO.

Btw, I LOVE that 70 machine as that was the year I as hatched.

I have 27k on my scoot.
