Cool New Ultra

I asked a while back about which was best. An SG or an Ultra. Well after a few months of thinking about all the pros and cons I finally pulled the trigger and got a Black Pearl 09 Ultra. It was definately the right decision. I traded in my Sporty and suprisingly enough the dealer gave me 500+ more for it than I had thought I could get out of it. I had a number in my mind what I thought it was worth and if they offered me less than that I was going to keep it. But it is no longer mine.
Got it home late Friday and by Monday night I had 500 miles on it. Nothing to crazy just some miles with some friends up in the mountains.
I am very pleased with the handling of it. It handles much better than my sporty and rides so smooth. Not quite as zippy as the Sporty but definately a trade up. If I had known how good the ride would be I would have bought one sooner. I understand now what you all were saying about them.
I may only be 39 but I don't mind one bit being called a Geezer. Tell me that after we ride all day and I am still ready to go and you are tired and beat up. I will try to post some pics as soon as I slow down long enough to take some.

The old story about the young bull and the old bull comes to mind.

The two bulls are on top of a hill the young bull says "lets run down there and bang us a cow"
The old bull says 'No, lets walk down there and bang them all"

The Ultra is way more comfortable for long rides.
I have friends with hardtails that refuse to ride more than 50-100 miles a day, and then **** and moan all noght how bad there backs ache.

I bought my 2009 Ultra Classic in Feb. 2009 my second one and for the money it is the only one to buy. Your going to pay also the same for less if you buy anything else in the touring class. They are loaded with everything they make and you can make it your own with a few mods. Good choice you won't be sorry.

Well with the right seat, the right handlebars etc. and if your not riding two up for very long - Streeters are great.
Looking back - I could have bought an ultra and spent another $10K on it instead of the streeter and could have had an even better bike.
Congrats on the Ultra - Good choice.
(I dont ride two up)
At least you got over the geezer thing - I didnt (at the time).

You will probably never own anything that you can feel any more as it "breaks in" than a new Harley Davidson....It honestly takes 10,000 miles.. You`ll see! ENJOY IT!
