Default ABS Software update

Just read on another forum that there is an update for the ABS system.

Just spoken to my dealer who has confirmed this is the case, so I am taking my bike in on Friday. It is a warranty issue so no charge.

The posting on the other forum indicates that it made a big difference, but techie at my dealership reckons it probably won't - no harm in trying of course. I am not unhappy with my ABS anyway and hope this doesn't start another whole debate on whether we should have ABS or not!!

King, maybe this will give you some comfort if the improvement is material

Let me know what you find out. Like you I thought I read about this online and went and asked my dealer, they knew nothing about it and if I found out more info print it up and take it to them.

My guys's initial response was "no way" but then he jumped on and did a proper check and there it was - it certainly is there. Will let you know, but mine will only be done next week Friday (5th June)

From the initial response I got from the techie I doubt whether it will be a full recall as he felt it the description didn't indicate that it would make a real difference.

That said, the other thread I read the guy was really positive about it, but sometimes people "want" to believe things in excess of the reality. Personally I am happy with the ABS, although I do feel the back kicks in a tad early and this guy specifically comments on that being a significant improvement.

Anyway, it's free, it's warranty and they will do it while I wait, so sounds like it is a no brainer really

I'm wondering if it's the same software update that was mentioned in this thread last month, intended for '08 bikes and already implemented in '09s at the factory: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...bs-brakes.html

Here's MoCo's service bulletin http://www.box.net/shared/7t4a16tfxf

Yes I think that is it. I wonder if this will affect my bike with a TTS "canned" map on it? Has anyone done this and what are the benefits?

That's the one the techie read out to me. Interesting as they also calling it a calibration issue, based on using Michelin tyres. It seems remarkable that the system should be that sensitive!!

Based on what I read elsewhere I still think it is worth doing, I will test in anger and send feedback

Looks like its just for 08s??? I asked the dealer about this when the had the bike 3 weeks ago and there was "nothing available".

On the plus side it would seem that there is indeed scope to tune the calibration of the system.

Also, in the service bulletin step 2 is to "complete ABS service within Digital Technician". Any techys out there know what this does?

SG - is yours an 08 or an 09?
