RE: Suggested mods for 2006 Road Glide
If you like the look of the rear fender of the FLHX Street Glide consider duplicating it on your Road Glide.
The license plate mounted below the tailight is 1000% better looking than anything mounted above the tailight, laydown license plate or not, IMHO. You can duplicate this with Harley part 53702-04, $194.66 from Zanotti's.
Also, if you like the color matched filler strips and special effects LED lights on the FLHX rear fender you can duplicate this also. Just ask your HD dealer to duplicate the parts shown at pages 112 and 113 of the 2006 Touring Parts book; you will need the VIN number of a real FLHX Street Glide since the special effects fender attachment (the filler strips and LED light panel are one piece) is a VIN restricted part. Your dealer can give you the number or ask a buddy who has an FLHX. Shoot, if your Road Glide is one of the FLHX colors, you won't even need this part painted. The cost of the parts is under $200, by the way, to duplicate the FLHX rear fender; you get a big bonus since your rear fender is clean, i.e. no hole for the fender tip lamp found on typical FLHT and FLHR fenders. You also have the correct saddlebag support; unlike the FLHTC and others with the saddlebag guard rails, your Road Glide is the same as the FLHX.
Now that would be a very cool Road Glide; an 06 Road Glide with an FLHX rear fender with the license plate below the tailight, color matched filler strips between the saddlebags and fender, plus the drop down color matched LED panel.
I have already purchased these parts to turn the rear fender of my 2004 FLHTPI into an FLHX; thought it might work for your Road Glide also.
Lots of great suggestions and you will have a helluva ride.

RE: Suggested mods for 2006 Road Glide
I have a 2006 RG that I have left bone stock as far as the engine goes. I love it- no need for extra power but YMMV.
Here is something you really need that is not on your list: A Clearview Windshield!!!! Get rid of the stocker (I cut mine down to a six
incher for around town in the summer). You will not believe the difference in the ride compared to stock.

For cryin out loud Steele, you must rob banks for a living to be adding all that stuff right out of the store. I'm buying my RG with some inheritance money. I'm sure Mom is tryin to tell me to have fun but be careful. I think I'm going to just get the tour pack and passenger back rest so my wife can ride with me. Maybe I'll pick up a set of the pull back handle bars after I'v been riding a bit. 20 years without a scooter is a little to long. Not sure what to expect. Last scooter was a GL1000 Goldwing.

Nope, don't rob banks, I'm way too smart to attempt a crime where you pose for 100's of pictures.
Life's been to good to me to risk spending the rest of my life in a prison. I get my money the "old fashion way"; working my *** of between my full-time job and the business me and my better half own.
