Default Cruise Control Instructions

Does anybody have the instructions for cruise control Part Number 77196-07? I had mine installed by the stealer and now that it is out of warranty, after I wash it it, it sometimes doesn't work for hours. I am pretty sure it is under the tank because I have covered the hand controls with a plastic bag and it still did it. Thanks

Your Cruise Control module is behind your left side cover. You'll see the Cruise line from the module to your throttle body. There is also a electrical connector on the module and besides the switch on your handlebars, take into consideration the switch on your fairing cap. Sorry i cant be of more help. Rich

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure the switch on the fairing cap is ok, as the light on the tach lights up when you turn it on. It just won't switch to green, because it doesn't engage.

I had the same problem with my '07. What it turned out to be is the switch on the idle (throttle) cable. Trace the throttle cables down and you'll see right in front of your fuel tank a switch on one of the cables with two wire's attached to it. Make sure the wires are attached and also make sure there isn't any slop in that cable. Next would be to take out a multi-meter and check and make sure the switch is operating proberly. I can explain that in further detail if need be. Good luck. Rich

something i experienced when i had the factory cruise put in my 08 sg. a week later got the stage one download and it killed my cruise. the cruise wouldn't work at all after the download, made a u turn and rode back to the dealer and they told me that the stage one would kill the cruise control, but there was a fix through the download and they cured it right away. we be croozin now though. just a bit of info if you got a download and it wiped out your cruise.

I have an 02 ultra I bought off my OL dad. The cruise control worked when he had it. I never put 2 and 2 together but will a power commander knock it out? I just got done donig a 95 inch upgrade, new cam and new power commander v so I was going to start working on other stuff and the cruise was number one on the list
