Question New muffler style questions

What's the big difference in these mufflers? I know one states for 07/08 and the other states for 09....but can the 07/08 muffles fit and work on a 09 Ultra???
What if the internal baffles were changed? would that matter? Riding friend has the 08 style and changed the internals to Cycle Shack baffles, sounds real nice, not to loud, just a little louder than factory....

Thanks

Thanks

2009 touring models have a wider rear axle necessitating a larger cut-out (dent) in the '09 mufflers. I run '07 S/E mufflers on my '09. I just dropped the rear of the mufflers down a bit by shimming the aft mounts 1/2". No axle clearance issues now.

Thanks Cap.
Think one could make the indent larger on older style?

I suppose with a large enough hammer, anything's possible!

Heck, just mount them and go for ride. The indent will enlarge by itself!

For a while after I got my 09 Ultra, the after market had not caught up on exhausts and the only aftermarket slipons available were Rinehart slipons. I asked the guys at Bub enterprises why theirs fit and no one elses did they advised because of the smaller diameter of their pipes the axle not did not interfere. Since I wanted Rineharts anyway I ordered them and installed, did put chrome spacers to lower them about 3/4" to give a little more distance between the pipe and the nut but this was the only mod. I was told by V&H at the time it was going to take time for the after market manufacturers to re tool for the 09's but by now I think most have accomplished this. Any issues manufacturers may be having are not performance related but fitment related. The only reason HD says new clamps are required is they just want to sell new clamps. All the newer Sreaming Eagle pipes are hardly any louder than stock so I can't see putting $ into them. I got my Rineharts from Eastern Performance for $469 shipped to my door and I have not been disappointed.

Thanks guys. I scored a set of new SE mufflers for my 07 EGC....good price, but I have a deal working on a new 09 Ultra ( know more this week) and was wondering of I could make the SE pipes fit the 09 ( if I get it)....like I said earlier, a friend has them with the Cycle Shack baffles and they sound nice, not to loud but you can hear them....
If I don't trade for the 09, then it's a non-issue because they will fit the 07...maybe sell them and get the right ones if the deal goes through....

Again, Thanks for the responses....
