Default Fork Oil Weight

Guys, I'm finally starting to re-assemble my bike after months of work, chrome, extending the bags, tank, etc. I have read every thread I could find about forks / race tech / progressive / etc. I am using the Race Tech kit, 1" spacers. What weight oil are you guys using? I see 10-15-20 wt. It seems as many guys as you ask you get that many different answers. Also, HD has been using this same fork set-up for years, why can't they tell you how much oil to put in the forks? Whats up with his measuring deal, every bike I've ever had ie: Ducati, Honda, etc. gave you the amount needed. Thansk in advance for your help. gary

My manual says how much oil to use. I used the middle grade 15 last time I changed oil. Made the front a bit stiffer.

10.8 oz for tourers except FLHR's which is 11.1 oz. I use the equivalent to about 15w. I mixed HD type E with SE Heavy

After dinging my front fender on the brake tee during a hard stop/pot hole combo at just the right time, I swapped to SE Heavy. It stiffened the front end up nicely.

I'm using 10 weight Castrol fork oil with progressive springs its a nice ride with no diving under brakes your going to love the difference they make in corners. I think I cut my spacers 1 3/4 inches long from memory

I run 5wt. Amsoil Fork Oil.

You can easily & cheaply make a measuring gauge.
Believe it or not...
One of those fried turkey injectors...a length of hose to fit the injector....a metal tube...a ferrule.

Everything except the injector can be bought at a hobby shop.
