You do not NEED to lower it. If you are going to I'd say 1" should suffice to even it out.

I wouldn't lower the front at all. I have the same set up (21/16) with a hugger fender and didnt lower it. It looks fine and handles great.

I have the same as well, but the rear is lowered 1" in lieu of the front. Handles fine for me too.

some will say you MUST lower it or the handling will suffer. I didnt lower mine and cant tell a difference. id rather not lose the ground clearance and worry about my fender hitting the frame, so i am leaving it up. i also have 11.5 rear shocks, so am lowered 1.5 in the rear.

Glad to see several of you feel like me and don't think you need to lower it. Mine rides and handles great so I don't see the need.

I lowered mine one inch and low speed handling improved.

Calculate your rake and trail and you decide.

With that size tire it will def. rake the bike up and already if your on a flhtc you prolly got a 13" rear shock so that bike will be sitting up high def. lifted in the front. I would go 1.5" lower in the front forks. I ran the 1.5" drop in the front and the 12" shock in the rear and it still has a very slight rake but very good hanbles great and my front fender still has good ground clearance its more of a comfort issue on the lowering i think. Good luck take some pics when finished.
