I'm a first time motorcycle owner and fairly new rider. I bought an '09 Electra Glide Police and I will be converting/customizing it into a cool touring/cruising bike. I'm having it lowered to Street Glide height right away and soon will be putting a K&N stage 1 breather kit and Reinhart true duals. I want a touring seat with sleek styling but comfortable with a detachable passenger backrest. I'm eyeing the Le Pera Maverick seat, but I see there's no slot for a rider backrest. Of course, I'll be removing the siren and replacing the red & blues with driving lights. In due time I'll add a stereo/mp3, new grips, new floorboards & pegs, and a lot of chrome little by little...

Any other suggestions or advice?

It sounds like you've got a good handle on it! If the front end was blacked-out like most police bikes, I say keep it that way. Blacked-out front ends look awesome!
