Default 1999 Electra Glide Wheels

I am wanting a set of wheels for my 1999 Electra Glide. It has 3/4 axles with speedo sensor on front axle. I don't want to spend $2500 on set of wheels since I will be getting a new bike next year, so any ideas? I like
the look of spokes, but am scared of them coming apart after reading a few stories on the forums. I also thought about powdercoating mine solid black, but there is $300 spent on them that isn't going to make much difference. You guys have any ideas? Or a set of wheels for sale? Thanks, Kevin

Think you answered your own question... If your planning on changing putts next year maybe you should just wait.

You can usually pick up the 1999 and down wheels a bit cheaper than the newer ones. Speaking from experience here I would say that get what you want the first time even if it costs a bit more or you will be getting another set. The set of wheels on my bike now (not in the gallery here) are my 4th set of wheels in 3 years.

Kevin,
If you're getting rid of the scoot next year, I wouldn't do a damn thing but ride it.
However, if you're set on doing something...powdercoat them black and polish the lips out.
Cheap & looks good!

4 sets in 3 years?
WOW!

The wheels in my sig pic are RC Components.
Purchased in 2006.
Bought them a couple months after I bought the scoot.
And I STILL love them!

My 1999 egc has had spokes since it was new, 44K with no issues.

It's not like spokes are a new thing, they work fine.

Like it was said before if your selling you may want to keep what you got.

There maybe more options with 2000+ wheels.

In 2000 the front went to 1 inch and 2002 the rear went to 1 in along with a beefer swing arm.

I have a 97 with 2000+ wheels. Just requires the appropriate spacers, and will need new rotors.

If you have the front wheel speedo that will be an issue but can be resolved by cutting the speedo and right spacer down to 7/8 in.

I'm now in the process of gathering parts to put the speedo back on mine and at the same time upgrading to a 2007 swing arm, 1 in rear axle with the Sta Bo retro kit.

I have powder coated a set of the 9 spokes a glossy black. Waiting to get the wheels back with the tires mounted, then I'll have some pics. I have a similar black/chrome front end. I'm anticipating that it will look good, but I also rum White Walls, which will IMO help the black stand out.

Please do post some pics. I was talking to the wifey (banker, loan officer, executor of Purchase Orders) last night and her exact words were "I wish you would get a set of wheels and be done with your bike untill we pay off the truck (2 years) and then we will go buy you a brand new bike exactly like you want and you can keep both of them. You can ride the old one to work to keep miles off the new one" I like to have fell out in the floor. So I made a deal with her that I would keep my bike for a couple more years. I found a NICE set of spokes that will go right on but the more I think about polishing the lip on mine and powdercoating them, that sounds good too. Thanks for all the replies guys. Anybody have any pics of the powdercoated wheels?
