Default Target AFR

I am installing the PC Autotune modules tomorrow and I would appreciate some input on target AFR's. What does anyone think?

Between 14.24-14.64 in crusing range.
~13.0-13.9 in decel
~13.2 in WOT

I have mine set to 13.8 in the cruise range and 13.0 at WOT. I could go with 14.2 in the cruise range to get a little better mpg but 13.8 runs good and keeps the bike cooler. I don't know what decel range mentioned in previous post means?

Decel is when you take you hand off the throttle, for example when you pull in the clutch or to shift up or come to a stop. The 'Decel' area of a map typically needs to be rich or you will get Popping or Backfiring. Not sure how the PC is set up but in my TTS that would be the entire column at 20 MAP.

IMO the 13's is too rich for everyday cruising, but I don't have to contend with the heat like you baggers do... If you go in the 13's check you plugs after a few hundered miles to see if its to rich or not.

If you purchased your PCV from Fuel Moto you should have the Target AFR tables filled in properly. If so I would leave them alone except in the cruise range, which IMO could stand more leaning. They usually use 13.8:1, but I have mine set to 14.5:1 from 2-3K @ 5-15% TP and 13.0:1 at 80-100% TP. With an oil cooler I get very moderate oil temps even in summer running this AFR. Considering stock bikes run 14.6:1 I believe you can safely run 14.2 or even leaner with no cooler without having any heat problems.

I'm using the original rich base map and applying leaner target AFR's. By doing this I can use a simple on-off switch to toggle between the richer base map and the leaner values created by the target AFR tables. If I get caught in traffic during summer I can switch to the richer base map (13.8:1) to cool things down. That way I can have the cooling when needed and good gas mileage most other times.

Do not apply any target AFR's to 0% TP (all RPM's) and 2-10% TP @ 1250 RPM. I use 0's in those cells, which makes the PCV use the values in the base map, as there is a history of problems setting target AFR's in those areas.

I'm running all negatives (mostly -10) in all 0% cells except 1000 RPM's (idle), which is at 0, and am getting no decel popping. I think this problem varies from bike to bike and may be related to other factors like exhaust leaks.

I agree and believe the cruise range should stay well into the 14's, no richer than 14.2, unless you just don't care about gas mileage.

I didn't realize that the target AFR's were already in the Autotune tables until today. I'll stick with what FuelMoto suggest until I get it dialed in to that and then go from there.

Thanks all.

Hello.
I've recently installed Woods TW-6-6 cams and added the Auto Tune to my Fuel Moto PC-V (premapped)to my '09 SG. I ran the bike for about 300 mile's and then accepted all trims. I didn't change anything from Jamie's target numbers. The bike run's great accept I have a slight hesitation just off idle. The only time I really feel it is if I lug the bike from a dead stop. The bike seem's to stumble pretty bad. Other then that, bike run's great. Any idea how I can get rid of this hesitation just off idle. Thx. Rich
