Default how to remove O2 sensors. help

hello, I've been told that, at least, in 2009 models, you need a special tool in order to remove the O2 sensors on the head pipe. The tool I've been told I need is HD-27714.

Is it true? can I use a regular tool in order to take the O2 sensors so I can change my headpipe at home?

Thank you for your help

You need to cut a slot in a deep socket and use a long extension. There is a pic in the workshop manual, i can scan it if you really need it.

First unplug the wiring connector, remove the header pipe, and use an open end or box end wrench after you get the pipe off. Worked for me.

Of course. I feel a right ****. Just use a spanner once you have the headers off the bike...

What's wrong with a 7/8" open end wrench?

That's all I use when I remove / install o2 sensors. I do have a o2 sensor socket, but it's more of a PITA to use then the open end wrench.

Nothing.. a tiny little WD40 on the threads ( don't get any on the sensor tip )after you break it lose and a big 7/8" box end, work it out slowly reversing after each full turn so not to pull the threads out, works everyday for me ... The socket sucks and is a wast of time & money..
The socket is if your trying to change the 02 without pulling the head pipe off ...

No, im just going to install the same Head pipe but without catalyst. It is cheaper than aftermarket headpipes and works fine
