SG vs RG - Opinions needed
Hello all - trying to decide between a Road Glide and a Street Glide. Rode the RG today, hated the seat, handled nicely (although I'm not so sure about the hangling being "1000% better" than the other tourers as other have stated). Felt kinda weird with the fairing way out there in front of me, I've ridden batwing bikes and didnt find them to be bad at all by comparison. Also, I think the plastic pockets and fittings on the RG look kinda cheap, especially compared to the SG.
The Street Glide is much nicer looking IMHO, and not that much more dough, but I'm not sure that it will tour that well given the lowered suspension, and the minimal nature of the bike. I don't want to get hammered on every bump I hit. Also, it doesn't have cruise. Seems like you're paying more to get less on the SG, but man, it's gorgeous.
I'm hoping to cross county on whatever I buy this summer, decided against EG and UC because they're just so damned huge. Anybody do any serious touring on an SG? Or ideally, anybody do serious mileage on both bikes and have a preference? My heart says SG, my head says RG........I'd really appreaicte any feedback. Thanks!

I rented several models, Ultra, Softtail, Dyna, RK, but 5 mins after I got on the RG, I knew that it was the bike for me. I rode the rental 100 miles back to my home from the rental store and took my wife out for about 150 miles and she agreed that it was a must have for us.

I just came back from touring thru thr Texas hill co. I love my street glide but I ride solo with detach tour pack. The shock would be cheap and easy to change as giys are lowering their ultras. Like the man said" if there werent SG's I would have got the RG"! Good luck both arwe really neat.

I would rethink the Ultra if I were you. I was looking at the SG for a while too. But I want to tour with the bike and after some thought the choice was obvious.
