If the owner refuses to comply and curb his pet (as well as pay for the damage) the offending pet should quietly disappear never to be seen again. To quote Tony Soprano "No body - no murder". Be careful 'cause there ain't much that can inflict more damage in a short period of time than a scared cat.

I've never seen anyone check roadkill for bullet holes or poisoning...just saying.

Here in our city (Calgary) there is a by-law that states you can't let your animal run wild, and if you do, and if it goes onto someone else's property, you're allowed to trap it and take it in to the pound. The owner will then get a fine and will have to pay an additional fee to get it out of jail. They even will give you the traps if you have a problem with a neighborhood cat.

I've done this before, it works well, I think once the owner gets nailed with a fine he just gets rid of the cat.

Call your bylaw office and see if you have a similar thing there. Don't harm the cat, you can't win, you'll end up in the slammer.

Tough call. Does the landlord live next to you or is it a multiple liveing quarter type place (apt, duplex, ect)? If you talk to the landlord & anything happens to the cat, he will accuse you, but he might accuse you even if you don't talk to him. You could deduct tha damages from your rent & give him a copy of the receit. But I think if you can get a pic of his cat on your seat may help, otherwise he might say it could have been any cat that did it. You coud get a hold of the cat and lightly toss it on the owners car so it looks like the cat jumped up & he was going too fast, put his claws out to try to stop on his hood, owner may get rid of it then. Just remember that what ever you do, you will have to live with what you have done. Good Luck

Small Claims court... hand him the bill and tell him you can do it the easy way or the hard way.

If I saw someone hurting one of my pups there'd be an ***-whippin in order, and I can assure you the hospital bill would be more than the cost of a new seat. If I suspected someone of poisoning/killing one of my pups, I'd likely be convicted of murder. You don't mess with my pups. Period. Since I have no human children, they ARE my kids. Eye for an eye.

Contact Animal Control and have them round the cat up. Keeps you out of:

a) jail,
b) hospital,
c) morgue

I am a dog owner......my dog is fully trained and WILL not leave the lawn unless i take or tell it to.........Being a dog owner, unless its a pitbull, it wont get you anti freeze at my house, but, If I tell you once to keep the thing outta here, and it falls on deaf ears, The first time it will arrive back home with a gut full of ex-lax.............bet if he/she has a shat hemorrhage for a week it wont be back..........Either keep it tied up or in the house!!!

Dog's dont go "hunting" like cats do when let out side........well most dont anyway......

Say FYI........the if anti freeze is to inhumane for ya.......take a butter knife, put the blade with the "heavy" end away from you, when kitty comes to sniff what yer doin let the knife simply fall striking the kitty between the eyes.............the weight of the knife will put the nice little song bird eater to sleep...........permanently........

I don't understand the idea that its the bike owner's fault for not covering or putting the bike in a garage etc... So yer saying that if my kids are playing in my yard, and somebody else's dog is out and attacks them then somehow it is my fault for not keeping my kids inside. I don't think killing the cat is the answer, but an owner who won't take responsibility for his pets?......Now that may be another story.
