Fuel Mileage, 50 MPG?
#11
I have a bud with an 04 fatboy. He has stage one with V & H longshots. He has always gotten 50 mpg. No bs. When we ride together, we get gas together and fill up at the same time during the trips. I used to have an 05 heritage with the same mods as his except I had SE pipes. I got anywhere from high 30's to mid 40's in mpg. Our riding styles are about the same. Of course I had the windshield and bags that he didn't have.
My sg with the 103" will get low forties if I ride like a girl. Low to mid 30's if I am on the throttle constantly.

gas mileage
I have 08 RKC with a tour pac, stock air cleaner, fullsac true duals, Rush slip ons with Big City Thunder baffles, I have so much low end torque that I can get into 6th gear at 50 mph and climb most of the hills in West PA. if I keep it above 60mph which is easy to do, elevations around 1,500 - 2,000, and ALWAYS get 45 - 52 mpg and both of us are not petite. My riding buddy has an 05 RK also rides two up most of the time and he usually can beat me, this is consistantly both bikes right around 50 mpg, the spark plugs are picture perfect, light gray,to tan. My engine temps are right around 240-250 front and 250-260 rear at the spark plug, valve covers under 100 and pipes at the shields under 100 so it's not too lean per temps. When I am cruising I am barely turning the throttle at all, I can pull out without touching the throttle at all with two up and idle around up & down hill through parking lots, the bike is an extreme joy to ride with all the low end. Moral of the story, low end power means lower rpm = higher gas mileage without running lean, if your bike is tuned with a power range at higher rpm's forget about gas mileage, if you can putt around all day under 3,000 rpm without lugging it you will experience higher gas mileage. Yes it's possible almost always. My gas mileage goes down to 45 or a little under when by myself because I usually run harder , it's all in the tune and in the wrist !
