If you want the sound, if you want the speed, if you want the seat of the pants thrill of acceleration.......then you will pay for it in MPG, period! If you want MPG leave it stock. Many here don't understand the trade offs of doing modifications to their bikes. Most here probably don't realize you trade off your stock torque in a stage one for something lower just to get more top end, sound and lower engine heat, while sacrificing MPG. My stock SG will smoke a stage one up to third gear because I left my torque intact at the lower RPM's, anything faster I don't need. Just my 2 cents.

You might be smokin' something, but it's not a well tuned stage 1. BTW I get 42 mpg average.

Chester.....when the pipes are changed for less restriction, some torque is lost at the lower RPM's and it is gained at the higher RPM's. HD tunes their bikes for the average rider giving torque at the lower range. Doing a stage one will increase torque and HP but, at a higher RPM range. The stock mufflers that HD uses utilize's the engines torque at lower RPM's. MPG is as we all know is relative to how the person rides it and what modifications have been done. I have had many modified bikes in over 45 years of riding and have run the gamut on HD motors. I average 46 MPG I quess because I have slowed down over the years, as will most of you. By the way, any tune is only as good as the person doing it.

The first thing I noticed after doing my stage 1 was the off idle torque, I did not raise my rev limit, it's still at 5800. The tune is only as good as the MATCH of the components AND the person who tunes it.

I have the A/N Big Sucker, S/E pipes, and stage 1 download on my 2008 Ultra and I get about 40-42 mpg. It depends a lot on how you ride, if I go out and run stop light to stop light as fast as I can go I'll get about 34mpg. Just a thought.

Checked my last two fillups and got right at 34 mpg, probably 70% superslab at 75 mph and the rest in town. Not bad for my vintage bike and configuration, but I leaned out my map a little last night. I used to get right at 40 mpg, but the mileage dropped immediately by around 4 mpg when I changed my tires to Michelin Commanders. Great tires, but I'm sure the stickiness is costing me some mpg. Like someone said earlier, we didn't buy these things to get great gas mileage, otherwise we'd buy a scooter!

You all need to keep in mind that we are getting that bastardized summer blend fuel now. Depending on where you live it can go from bad to outright pitiful! We can still buy 100% gas where I live and my mileage runs between 46-48 on it, but if I have to use some of the sorrier blended gas it drops 6MPG on average.

I am running an 05 with Andrews 26 cams, a set of slip ons, Screaming eagle highflow intake and a screaming eagle super tuner.

I don't run it too hard but did wring it out a couple times this saterday and I got right around 33 mpg.

A buddy with an 03 EGC converted to a street glide, has a set of V&H slip ons and he is getting 50+ on the same ride.

This was going by how much fuel we pumped at the end of the day and how many miles we put on. My low fuel light was on at just over 150 miles. I made it back to town and had 161 miles on.

It shouldn't drop at all if you keep your right wrist in check. The O2 sensors will keep AFR's at 14.6:1 as long as you stay below about 50% TP (throttle position), which is the same as stock. I'm under the impression that the HD Stage 1 download changes only the open-loop area above 50% TP. Perhaps you've been testing your new configuration a bit too enthusiastically.
