best deal for a new road king???
Hi all, I'm a brand new owner of an Iron 883. I got it durring the trade in promotion and I'm looking to trade up to a road king. I rode one at the last demo day my dealer did and fell in love. Just wondering what the best deal people got for theirs new? That way I know what is reasonable once I start negotiating. Thanks much.

These are the base dealer costs before actual freight and assembly costs.
Freight Cost: $375 (48 states and Alaska only)
Estimated Assembly Cost: $125-$140
Each dealership has its own method of figuring their actual cost of assembly and preparation for sale.
There is no reimbursement by the factory for this cost to the dealer.
Ready to sell cost: $14099BLACK
Ready to sell cost: $14399COLOR
Ready to sell cost: $146832-TONE
California Emission Charge - Invoice / List Price - $160 / $200
Wholesale Incentives: no dealer holdback or sales incentives for this model.
Factory Options: cost / retail
H-D Factory Security System - $276 / $345
Wheel Option - $360 / $450
ABS - $636 / $795
Cruise - $216 / $270
The "Ready to sell cost" is the cost of the machine sitting on the showroom floor with NO PROFIT to a dealer. Dealers do not stay in business very long by selling machines for no profit.
Many dealers charge additional fees for "Freight and Setup" over and above the selling price of the machine. Add the "Selling Price" to the "Freight and Setup" charges and subtract the "Ready to sell cost" to determine the PROFIT a dealer is asking to make. Dealers in most states are required to collect sales tax and title fees for the state. These fees are not profit to a dealer.

I just bought an 09 RKC in southern Nevada. Flame Blue Pearl, ABS, Security and some bling. Paid just a tad under MSRP + tax and title. Sitting on the showroom floor, they were asking about $3000 over MSRP. I don't if anyone pays sticker price, but I would expect at least some do.
I called HD dealers in Missoula, Salt Lake, Phoenix and checked with both Las Vegas and Henderson dealers here in town. Everyone I spoke with wanted MSRP or above and wouldn't move, even on a cash deal.
I've heard of folks getting slightly better prices dealing out of state, eBay, etc. But the truth is that on a $20k bike, it wasn't worth the hassle dealing out of state, shipping, paying tax anyway when it got here, etc just to save $700 or $1000.
Good luck.

Don't pay above MSRP---
I paid sticker msrp for my new 08- they threw in the security ($350)-- I was out the door at $22,400--- but had them install a black face tach w/ housing, and engine mounted Oil Pressure gauge-- that was in Modesto, CA--- In San Francisco, they wanted $2000 more---
Yeah, I saw the $3000 Dealer Markup at Eagle's Nest in Stockton, CA and laughed at the sales guy---
FWIW
