Anyone running an S&S carb? Is there any way, without cutting back performance, to eliminate or somewhat quiet down the squeeling sound taht the carb makes when you let up on the throttle? I have the Super E.

I'm running a Super E also and have not heard any squeeling noises from it. Mine has a vacum plug in the back plate low toward the front cyl. Looks like a golf ball marker, either yellow or red. If you knocked it off it would leave a small 1/8" hole open and could possibly make that noise.

 

Thanks V2. I have two plugs in my backplate and they are both in place. It may not be the carb although a long time ago I heard someone complaining about S&S squeals and did not know what they were talking about. I have been hearing mine for awhile but really could not but help notice it on a recent long trip to Laughlin. Rode pretty hard on the road and when going thru towns changing throttle settings it was quite apparent. The mystery continues.

 

What air filter are you using. I just use the S&S paper one. Never used a K&N in the S&S.

 

I use the S&S foam over wire screen. Have never seen the paper ones.
