No it's not bye bye union it's bye bye good paying, tax paying jobs.It's a job that buys a home and pays college tuition,gives a good worker a retirement and maybe allows for enough left over to buy a Harley and have some time to ride it.And for you anti union folk your bike won't cost a penny less.

 

I was a computer programmer and was lucky that I saw the handwriting on the wall with so many programing jobs going to India. I trained for and learned new skills now I'm more marketable than ever. Programmers are rarely union, except a few govt jobs, but hundreds of thousands of programming jobs have been shifted off-shore. Its a global economy, companies will always be looking to cut costs, it isn't "nice", but it is what it is.

 

Harley will probably close more plants in wisc and try to put all final assembly under on roof...softail,touring and cvo models are assmbled in york pa and dynas v-rods and sportsters are made in Kansas City...The union helped Harley alot in the 80s when times where tuff....now they could care less...

 

I wouldn't expect it to. Cutting the payroll and then cutting the price puts them right back in the same situation.
