Default which cam

Hi and thanks for providing this forum. I'm riding an 08 UC with a custom engine build.

103" high compression pistons, SE heads, D&D Fatcat 2/1 pipes. I originally did this build with a Harley 255 cam. I wasnt' crazy about the performance so switched to a 257 cam.

Bike runs fast now but the gas mileage sucks big time, dropped 10 points, to like 27mpg. Any idea which cams might give me my middle performance and not such lousy mileage?

Yeah, check your tune. It wont be your cams. I am getting 39 MPG out of the 124 riding hard with a canned S&S map and its running 640 grind cams with lots of overlap...

Pretty hard to get PERFORMANCE and good MILEAGE at the same time. I say you have to pick one or the other.

Yeah, I thought that too. I was thinking I would get about 25-30 out of the 124. I am so surprised. You can have grunt and economy.
