Thumbs down

[QUOTE=BadPiggy;4975381]Guys,
My local Indy dyno tuned a 131" a couple days ago.
I wish I had a copy of the dyno to show you guys.

The AFR was dead *****..straight across the RPM range.

Numbers were...........

111 HP
117 TQ

Those numbers are horrible, more like a 107"
I've seen much higher from a 124" S&S and it's cheaper.

I'm not surprised with this guy using basically stock exhaust. With this engine you gotta go with D&D "Borzilla" or have RB Racing make a custom pipe, you have to use 2 into 1 type exhaust to get max. out of these engines. I'm sure its still a strong engine as is, but why spend all that money and not do the easist of all upgrades?

Exactly. Those Jims motors are not that impressive (for the money) out of the box. When I was at RC Cycles getting my bike dialed in, a Ultra Classic w/ a Jims 131 and Supermeg 2-1 (good performance pipe) came in for a tune. My bike was not on the dyno at the time so Bob put the 131 on the dyno for its' tune. When all was said and done it made in the low 130's hp and tq. Pipe was a good choice and the tune was dead on.

Some people have to have the biggest thing on the street and money is no object. Making sure it's a good combination is secondary in some cases. Not a good way to go IMO.

Dunno yet...this build gets tuned next week. My last motor made 130/133 with low compression at 5000' elevation. I know two guys with Jim's 131 motors and neither are making decent numbers.

That is way low. I got 101/107 out of my mild 103" build.

I ran up against a guy recently in a dyno shoot out at our local HD dealer. He had a 131" Ultima with get this....... $28,000 invested in just the motor and only pulled a 133 HP/143 TQ. Talk about a slug.
Numbers were...........

111 HP
117 TQ

Pretty weak for a $10k motor, if you ask me.
I think the main reason it ran like a slug...the pipe.

Guy was running the stock exhaust system with those goofy Gatlin Gun cans.

Anyway, thought some of you guys might be interested in the numbers.[/
If anyone put up $28,000 for an ultima motor he isn't too bright as Ultima is amoung the cheaper motors in the industry. The Ultima El Bruto complete is only about $5000. Someone was blowing smoke up yer butt. For $10,000 you canget a Patrick's Racing motor and it will scream and beat anything out of a box. $28,000 may have been for the bike with the ultima and some bling but there is NO WAY an Ultima costs that...heck they are runnign specials with tranny for less than $7000...by th way, IMHO, Ultima sucks...the run great while they are running but you better be a wrench to own one...

Dont get so worked up.I didnt say I believed the guy I'm just repeating what he said.Personally if I had that kinda money wrapped up in just the motor I sure as hell would'nt be bragging about it,especially with the numbers he was pulling{131HP}.My '07 FLHT which is a stock 96" with a Pro-Charger on it dyno'd at 123HP.He only beat me by 8HP,and I only have $4500 wrapped in my motor.

Hard to beat the procharger for value. Do you every worry something is gonna melt at full noise? Are the cams and drives stock? What redline do you run? I didnt know you could get that much out of a 96!!!
